Meet The Animals       UPDATED: 30th September 2008

White & Apricot Call Ducks - we have one male and two female White Call Ducks - and they can be quite noisy! Aptly named due to their distinct sound they are traditionally used to lure other ducks for game hunting. Fred & Ginger - our apricot call ducks are very tame and have settled into their new home very well. They are also the last to be put to bed each night.

Our ever growing managery can be spotted in the surrounding area of our workshop. It is our ambition for our visitors to enjoy their company as much as we do. They all have their own personalities and they love the freedom to roam in and out of their homes. You are very welcome to come and meet them all and watch them go about their daily business.

Andalusian Blue Trio Chickens - We have a rooster called Rodney - he's also very friendly and likes to let everyone know that he's around. We also have Two Hens - sporting a beautiful bluish - grey plumage. One became very broody - and decided to hatch three chicks! These were born on 21st June 2008. Two have rodney's colour, the other one was born black - they are all really cute!

Here is a brief introduction to all our furry and feathered friends...
Our first arrivals - Charlie & Lola are our original pet rabbits. Lola came to us with her mum Stella in August 2007 when she was one years old. Stella gave birth to Charlie a week later (which was a bit of shock!) - but sadly Stella died soon afterwards. They are friendly and inquisitive and like to greet visitors. They love to run amongst the ducks and chickens. We caught Lola's tail-end dissappearing down a recently dug tunnel. Now we are building some tunnels and mounds for them both to play with, to avoid losing her again!

We recently adopted two geese. We have named them Lily & Luke and they are around two years old. They have settled in well with the other animals and seem quite placid by geese standards.

We have added two Buff Orpington Hens , around 26wks old and have just started laying eggs. These two act like 'Hinge & Bracket' - virtually inseparable. Joining them are two Hybrid Warrens our health fanantic hens - they never fail to greet anyone in the hopes of some 'greens' to eat. Mrs White Chicken is a Light Sussex Hen also joins in with fun and never misses a chance for some titbits to eat.
They were later joined at Easter by two more rabbits, Pipkin & Biscuit. We adopted these two from the 'Carrot Tops Rescue Centre' - we fell in love with them at first sight! Pipkin can be very naughty when it's his bedtime and will hide in the long grass, hoping that he won't be found! Biscuit is equally as naughty - she will hide too, but also will try to dart right past us as we think she is going into her house.

We had our first duckling born during August, the parents got lazy and so a rather broody chicken stepped in to do the hatching.

Our Khaki Campbell Ducks - amusing to watch - wherever one goes all will follow! We have eight females and two males. At the moment their plumage has changed colour for the summer months. We are hoping to increase their numbers as they are very good egg-layers.
